Is wearing an apron violating my status as a career woman?
I am in a role reversal marriage. My husband stays home full-time and I work as an attorney.
I recently decided to host a dinner party - and I did all of the cooking. I never cook, but decided to venture.
I wore a nice cocktail dress to the party, but also opted to wear a hostess apron to protect my dress. It was very pretty (green and red floral). At the party the wife of one of my associates goes, "So you're wearing an apron. Looks like you are giving up on being super career woman. Shouldn't your husband wear one too?"
What should I make of that comment? Yes it was stupid, but is it true. Is wearing an apron a sign of regression after all I worked for to become a sole breadwinner and independent woman?
That person was being a fool. Its like saying someone is a 'goth' or something when they are wearing all black.
Make nothing of that comment.
Just because you wore an apron and cooked once doesn't mean you are automatically a 'house wife'.
That person was being rude and idiotic like you said. Maybe use that apron to strangle the person next time.
