Henckels or Wüsthof: Which knife is better?
I'm looking at the Henckels Professional "S" or Wüsthof Trident Classic 8418 knife sets? Both are rated very high by Consumer Reports so I'd love another opinion.
I swear by my forged Wusthof chef's knife. I also own steakknives by Wusthof that after three years have yet to dull. I've also purchased forged knives from Target by some chef or other. Buy forged knives. You won't be disappointed. It really doesn't matter what brand. But the Wusthof's handles are nice to work with. I've bought knives from Chicago Cutlery and forged knives from other brands, and the ergonomics are just not as satisfying as the Wusthof knifes. And, moreover, I think Henckels has sent a lot of their production to China, as have most manufacturer's. Just pick up one of the knives at a store and see if it's comfortable to hold. If it isn't comfortable to work with, you'll regret having spent $150 for a knife that you only use to dice vegetables with.
